|
The first evening-length program from powerful new dance-theater performer
Ksenia Vidyayakina, TRAPPED weaves haunting stories of women alone,
confined, and forced into the most difficult of choices... A 1920's
era striptease takes off her clothes and then some (SKIN); a pregnant MERMAID
performs a startling abortion; a dying SWAN gives up her ballet dreams; a drunken Russian
SINGER caught in Slavic misery falls from
the moon to the earth again and again; a BLACK WIDOW hangs from the
ceiling by a possessive umbilical cord, helpless one moment, venomous
the next. And throughout the piece a little GIRL sees each episode and
wonders innocently, "What is all this and how do I get
out?"
